Tassila Elizabeth Artist

Tassila Elizabeth is a Canadian Artist living on her farm in Armstrong, BC.  Surrounded by beautiful landscapes of the Okanagan Valley she is inspired to paint contemporary nature landscapes, colourful abstracts, whimsical animals, and much more.  Her artistic impulse is usually to reflect on the palette and connectivity of colours, the mood, and lighting before she chooses a topic to paint.  Her love of colour, nature, her garden, and animals comes through in her work.  Her paintings are generally inspired by nature; the forests, mountains, grasslands, and oceans are not just scenery but the wellspring of her art, and the constant tumultuous beauty of her surroundings guides her life as a working artist. Her works can be found in private and corporate collections in North America, Europe, and Australia.

Welcome

To My Art

My main composition is contemporary, focusing on nature, with a play of the abstract. I primarily paints with acrylic and some mixed media.

All my canvases are professionally crafted locally and can be custom sized.  I welcome commissioned work, and I have experience working with interior designers, architects, builders, and real estate agents.

About Tassila

My name is Tassila Elizabeth.  I spent my childhood beach-combing, fishing and tromping through the forests of Quadra Island and Vancouver Island. This rugged West Coast back yard combined with the free spirited artistic community of Quadra was critical in forming my future artistic direction.

Through Secondary School I studied visual arts, art history, and fine art while apprenticing as a student graphic artist and working in one of Canada’s oldest and most successful studios all with the intention of pursuing a degree in fine arts.

During the summer months I worked as a saltwater guide first at April Point and later at Painters Lodge. After a few summers I was hooked on fishing, fly-fishing in particular! Deciding to put my art endeavours on hold I moved to Whistler in 1994, to partner and start a fly fishing company in Whistler BC.

Having satisfied some of my fishing ambitions by 2007 I decided to continue pursuing a career as a working artist in Whistler, inspired as always by the surrounding majestic coastal mountains and alpine forests.  In 2020 we moved from Whistler to the beautiful Okanagan, where I am now inspired by big sky, rolling hills, and grasslands.

I hope you enjoy looking at my art on my website in my galleries tab on the menu.  You can also view pieces for sale in select galleries, restaurants, and businesses in and around the Okanagan, Whistler, and here on my online Art Shop.  If you have an idea for a commissioned piece or would like some ideas, my Sold Artwork Gallery features some of my sold pieces.  If you would like to discuss anything, please feel free to contact me
